Frequently Asked Questions

Dolloff Poker hosted by PetesPokerRoom.Com
For information, please email Mike at mike@dolloff.net.
Q: Must I RSVP
A: Yes, please do! Its a pain in the butt planning a game. If you RSVP, then it is a little easier to plan. If you do not RSVP I will assume you are not playing and will find a replacement. Should you then show up, it could be awkward if there isn't any seat for you. Sorry, but this is important! If you RSVP, I will do whatever I can to assure you we will have a full game.

Q: What time does the game start/end?
A: Check game announcement. It varies, but is usually at 7 PM. If I say 7 then I expect everyone to be bought in and seated and cards to be in the air at 7:00. On-time players are rewarded with a bonus chip (check the announcement). After the first two tournaments, we'll continue so long as there are a minimum number of players to keep things interesting.
Q: What can/should I bring?
A: Money and whatever you want to drink. Bring whatever keeps you happy at the poker table! I don't have a stocked bar or keg. I don't mind sharing whatever beer I might have on hand, but usually I have just enough to keep myself going on poker night. If you do bring something, please do take it home with you (or at least don't expect it to still be here at some future event).
Q: Can I bring my kid?
A: No
Q: Can I bring my _______ (fill in the blank)?
A: Only if ______ is an adult coming to play poker and you have RSVPed.
Q: Why all these rules? Isn't this a friendly game?
A: Yes. To keep the game friendly, rules are vital! No misbehavior is allowed (peeking at whole cards, splashing the pot, intentionally slowing the pace, talking about in-progress hands when you are out of the action, calling out possible hands on the board, sore losers, etc.).
Q: If I'm first out of a tournament I just have to sit around and wait?
A: You can deal! You can play darts! You can watch! You can join the other losers and talk about your bad luck. Or, you can go home...but I hope you stay to play again!
Q: So how much do people usually win or lose?
A: Since we are playing tournaments, your losses and potential wins are fixed. See the Rules for payout schedule. See the game announcement for buy-in amounts.
Q: Who is Pete?
A: A really bad poker player who is good with web programming. You should want to meet him at the poker table and take away his chips. It is fun!
Q: I don't like having my name on a web page, can you remove it or not have a link for the attendance page?
A: The attendance page link is only displayed if you have the cookie, and you can only get the cookie if you click on the link you got in email. Nobody who is not a poker participant can see your name.
